I have already seen this presentation 5 or 6 times this school year. So I didn’t really think about the fact that many non-educators had not seen this before now until my grandmother sent me an email about it. I’d love to hear what everyone else thinks about it, from a non-educational point of view.
I’ve never seen it before. It is really unbelievably cool. I didn’t know half of that, nor would I have guessed. If myspace were a country it would be the 8th largest in the world? That’s mind-blowing. As a mom, it makes me more determined than ever to make sure my kids learn what they need to learn, whether or not the schools are able to teach it. Both my kids (7 and 10) are getting laptops with internet access for Christmas this year. I thought that might be a bit excessive, until I realized that the internet is the most powerful research and communication tool in history, and anyone who is not able to use it effectively is functionally illiterate in our society. Teaching kids to use the internet is no different than teaching them to read.
